Late April Updates

It's finally starting to feel like Spring and though I love cooler weather, I'm welcoming all the natural sunlight!

I've been browsing for clothes for my special lady Muse and I finally decided to get her a dress from Iplehouse. I ordered it last weekend so with EMS it arrived super fast! I took this pictures very quickly, but I think they turned out okay.

I'm Pro-BJD Artists Only

A lot has happened in the past few days on the topic of counterfeit/recasts BJDS and a individual named Luo who has a vindictive agenda to cause serious damage to small and larger BJD artists alike. He is a large Chinese recaster and has registered several companies's trademarks (even their logos) in China and is attempting to do so in Europe and U.S.A. I believe the current list is up to 85+ that he is trying to register. This would give him the power to blackmail the original artists and claim their work as his own. I'm not great at explaining all of this, but  I found out this information from @Puffypuffers and @f15dolls (both on Instagram).

I will also link Musume.Desu blog post which does a wonderfully job summarizing and compiling all of the information gathered together so far.

So in light of this, I feel I need to be 100% clear on my stance. I also wanted to post this to my blog as well since I've stated this on my Instagram and Flickr.

I have always been pro-artist in this hobby and always will be. Also as a artist myself it would be a huge contradiction if I supported counterfeit/recasted dolls. And even if I wasn't an artists, this is wrong. I have listened both sides of this issue for several years and it hasn't gone anywhere. There is no debate. It's art thief no matter how you slice it. I'm very concerned for the future of this hobby and the artists. Their work and livelihoods are being ruined and it deeply hurts me to see other creatives go through this.

February Updates

Fable returned home two weekends ago from visiting AngelToast~ As usual she did a phenomenal job and I'm so thrilled with Fable's fresh look! ♡

Many of you have grown familiar with Fable's blue themes over the years but since getting Rune repainted I felt that Fable's unique blue scheme no longer worked. I've also made a lot of changes to my overall story and characters and I felt a more natural look worked better for my shape-shifting bohemian twins. Fable will still have the blue/lavender hair and I plan on making her an alpaca wig once I have sometime to clean and dye the fiber. I'd also like to repaint her tattoos hopefully in the spring or summer. I live in a humid climate so that can get a bit iffy. I have yet to try brush on sealant and it might be okay for tattoo work since I honestly don't see a point in investing in an airbrush set. Maybe if I could use it in my illustration work or if I was trying to be a face up artist.

I also wanted Fable to look a little less sad/grumpy. She still has her sass, but with the new changes to my story I feel I have a better sense of her character now and hopefully it will open up even more now.

I wish I got better photos, but it's winter and it's been extremely dark here so this was the best I could do for now.

Siren Muse the White Witch: Aesthetic Mood Boards

I've decided to go ahead and include Muse into my new story with Folklore and my other dolls. I didn't want all of them to be lumped into one story but each doll has their own character and individual backstory going on that I might as well include Muse and see where it leads me with her character.

Late November & December Updates

A run down of updates from late November and December.

✩ Folklore returned from getting a face-up with AngelToast! ◦°˚\(*❛‿❛)/˚°◦

✩ I found on the secondhand market the Kogumaza set by Wimkut/FoxyBrowny in SD size.
It's one of my absolute favorite sets by Wimkut and I'm so happy Folklore can wear it again~

✩ Also I caught Wimkut's holiday sale and grabbed a few things for my Minifees and SDs.
One of them being another dress that Folklore use to wear.

Folklore

Before I forget here's today photo session with Folklore wearing a new dress from Kalcia's Workshop. I ordered this dress over a month ago and it finally arrived just before Christmas~ Folklore has been getting majorly spoiled, but I'm happy to have a few new things for her to wear and to work for her more whimsical style. Next year my goal is to slowly gather her some tomboyish and causal pieces since that's mainly what she wears to class as well as traveling to and from a secret magical realm.

Character & Backstory Changes

Forgive me for neglecting this blog! I've been meaning to post some photos I've taken since Rune and Folklore have both arrived back from getting face ups. I tend to update my Instagram a lot more since it's so quick, but I will be sharing some photos and trying to be better about posting to this blog.

Since I’ve had a little downtime to enjoy my dolls a bit more and think about them, I’ve been wondering how their backstories might begin to take shape since I’ve made some changes to my group. Some dolls have moved onto new homes and some re-shelled. Since taking the leap to upgrade Folklore to a larger scale I knew that it might change my story involving her with Fable and Rune. But that story was missing a lot pieces that I couldn’t seem to fit together. I wanted to have these college students juggling adulthood and discovering their magical abilities. I also wanted this greater and more powerful presence looming over them in the background. But for whatever reason I struggled to connect everything together...

Rune

Quick update to share Rune's face up photos that I received from AngelToast yesterday evening! I love the little heart shape on her lips~ I'm loving how feminine and mature she looks now. I'm excited for her return home and to see her along side Fable.

September Updates

Folklore has returned home! Ironically she arrived the same day I shipped off her previous Minifee shell to a new home. Also both versions of Folklore were ordered in June and arrived in September. I'm not much of a believer in things or in anyone, but perhaps it's fate? Whatever it is, Folklore is clearly meant to be~ I'm so happy that I was able to upgrade her to a Feeple60! She'll be going off to visit Angel Toast for a face up in a few weeks.

Speaking of face-ups in other news I sent Rune off for a face-up with Angel Toast earlier this month and I'm excited to see her work her magic! Her previous face-up was adorable and I love Nomyen's work. I didn't mind her with it but I was ready to make her more like the character I envisioned. Also I finally ordered her a pair of eyes and decided to get Fable some as well. I'm hoping both pairs suit the twins.

I'm looking forward to having my group all together and in a place where I can enjoy them more. It was bittersweet to sell a few of my girls and go through the process of re-shelling Rune and Folklore, but I'm happy I did.

BJD Updates | July 2017

Hello there, long time no post! I'm not sure if anyone is still following my little blog, but I'm not dead or anything haha. I ended up taking a break and found myself rather busy doing some local art fairs and Comic Con. It was pretty fun and overall I had a great experience for doing my first art tables. I was actually very surprised how well my work went over with people. So I'm going to try to do them more often when I can.

Anyway, doll updates cause that's what you're mainly here for~

Recently as some of you are aware I've been selling off some dolls, clothing and whatnot to organize my collection. Some people were surprised but after a long time of struggling creatively with my character Myth (Minifee Chloe/Vampire Elf) I felt it was best to move her own on. It's bittersweet but I'm happy she's found a new home with someone who's getting their grail doll. That alone makes me super happy and I trust she will be well loved.

I also made the decision to re-shell one of my favorite dolls, Folklore. She too went up for sale and will be going to her new home soon. There are still a few things I have listed on Den of Angels and Instagram. I also decided to put my Azone Koron doll for sale since I sadly don't do enough for her or buy her much at all. So I hope she gets adopted soon as well~

So with all of that out of the way...

I'm excited to announce that I’ve officially placed my order for a F60 Celine in tan skin! I ordered her through DDE on layaway since I’ve always had a great experience with them. Folklore is taking me on yet another creative journey~ And without a doubt she was the big game changer for me creatively next to Yokai.

I adored her in her small form with all my heart, but since the F60 Celine released I’ve always ignored my thoughts of turning her into an SD. Already I feel excited for when she returns and I have good feelings about it~ Also I pre-ordered her these gorgeous OscarDoll eyes. I couldn't resist them as I felt they screamed Folklore.

If anyone is still out there following this, thanks for sticking around! I can't promise anything, but I'll try to update this blog more often if I have anything to share.

Quick updates & 2017 Goals

At last I'm able to sit down and write something for this blog! I had planned on posting some updates and goals for 2017 last month, but things got quite busy~ But there is no race in this hobby and it's for me to enjoy when I can, right? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyway, I'll start with a few updates that I'm pretty excited about. Last weekend I was able to discuss with someone about doing a custom commission for Yokai. I'm pretty thrilled because it's been frustrating to find clothes that fit her properly or in the style I'm looking for.  Anyway, at some point I do want to try making something for her myself but my hands have been too full lately and I already have plenty of doll projects to finish! *coughs...giant fox* 😅

I'm also in the process of slowly revamping Myth's look and character who I've neglected for a long time. I've been writing down notes and brainstorming possible ideas to give her more depth which is pretty fun and exciting. It's only fair to her since Fable and now Rune have developed a lot since last year compared to her. Probably when it gets a bit warmer out I may tackle doing her face up. But I'll probably do some practice sessions first and see how that works out.

Moving on...here are a few hobby goals I have for 2017.
- Finish Folklore's felted fox
- Make more alpaca wigs
- Practice sewing
- Practice face ups
- Paint tattoos again (because I enjoy that more then face-ups oddly)
- Redo some of my girl's manicures

I'm also waiting on a few little things, but it will probably take a while before I get them. You know how doll mail goes lol! That's pretty much it for now~ Hopefully I'll get to some of these things on my list (maybe all of them). But a lot depends on my work schedule right now, so we shall see! If anything my major goal is to finish Rowan this year!

I'll leave you with a quick shot of the new girl who stole Myth's eyes (poor Myth lol).

A Special Arrival

Last month I was approached by Komorebi if I might be interested in doing a trade. Some of my illustrations in exchange for her Supiadoll Rosy. I was completely shocked and asked her was she absolutely sure. She was. So I set aside some artwork for her and decided I also wanted to create her an original illustration unique to her (even though she didn't ask). So I'm still quite busy working away on that and aiming to finish soon! I'm beyond grateful for her kindness and generosity she's always shown me. I've been pretty adamant about not adding more resin since nearly all my time, energy, and finances are going into my art. So I'm deeply humbled and grateful to this extremely generous trade and gift. ❤️  So thank you from the bottom of my heart! I have no idea what I'll do with her yet, but I hope to make her something special. 💖

(PS - I'd like to make a general updates post soon. Hopefully over the weekend or sometime next week when I can properly gather all of my thoughts on my dolls and the hobby for 2017.)

Meet Rune!

She's finally here! Meet Rune, Fable's twin sister~ She arrived early on Friday, but I was very busy with work, so I had to wait until later at night to open her. I'm glad I did because it was nice to take a moment to be quiet and enjoy some dolls.

She's a Minifee Luka from Fairyland. I got her secondhand through my friend PurinDoll and she came with a gorgeous face-up by Nomyens. I would like to get her repainted in the future or dive into doing it myself. But for now it works and I'm happy she fits in naturally with my other dolls.

Mood Board for ? | Re-shelled Character

(Images from Pinterest and ED eyes)

Since my incoming doll will be home soon I thought I'd share one of her mood boards that I made a while ago. I've been more conservative on what I share about my characters and plans lately, but I like the feel of this one. I'm hoping she'll arrive next week (maybe before Thanksgiving if I'm lucky).

I haven't ordered her eyes yet and probably won't until after the holidays. But I did purchase some alpaca to make her a wig. Treating alpaca is so time consuming, omg haha! Other then it taking forever to comb and wash, it's a pretty easy process. It will be worth it though! I need to get some pink dye in the shade I want and hopefully I can squeeze in some spare time to work on it when she arrives.

I will reveal more character details soon!

Happy Halloween!

(watercolor pumpkin painted by me)

Happy Halloween!

If you celebrate Halloween, have a happy and safe one! Otherwise Happy Autumn! I've been extremely busy hence the lack of updates. I'm hoping to have a little more free to continue doll related projects *cough Rowan* and other things. In a way I've sort of taken a break from the hobby because there is only so much time in the day. I'm not sure if I'll ever get the right balance of things working on doll related stuff since I spend most of my days illustrating and designing things for clients. *sigh* Oh well!

Yokai's Short Stories I - The Tanuki

Disclaimer: Yokai's stories include strong language, violence, and mature content. This particular short story is mild in my honest opinion, but does have a section of strong language. So this is my warning to you in advanced that some future stories involving Yokai will contain mature content.

The Tanuki

The sun blazed on the back of Yokai’s head as she carelessly followed behind her father. It was summer and the air was thick. Yokai wasn't pleased to be led through the tall grass that she had to smack out of the way as they cleared a path. It was her first time visiting in her father’s world and she wasn’t impressed. However she didn't see him often since she lived in the human world with her mother. They continued to walk for what felt like an eternity to Yokai. Her father didn't give much attention to his tiny daughter’s grumbling. When they finally reached a small village, Yokai couldn’t believe her eyes. There were all kinds of demons and spirits she had only heard of in stories. There were so many strange smells and sights everywhere! Her father quickly turned to her and said sternly for Yokai to not wonder off too far and to stay out of trouble. She leaned against a bunch of old abandoned crates as she watched him swiftly walk inside of a strange looking shop.

A group of demon children spotted Yokai and had been watching her for some time. She had noticed  them too. They huddled together snickering and occasionally starring at her. Whenever Yokai's eyes met with the group of kids she would quickly turn away to pretend she didn't see them starring at her. She didn't want to attract any unwanted attention. A loud mouth raccoon dog who appeared to be their leader kept pointing at Yokai until eventually he and group of kids started walking towards her. "Oh great..." Yokai mumbled to herself. The raccoon dog was bigger then some of the other kids. Yokai thought to herself how ugly and fat he was.

Reimi 2.0 Updates

The past two weeks have been very eventful for me in real life and in the hobby. I've been very quiet about it recently, but last weekend I put a Minifee Luka on layaway!!! °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°

A friend had reached out asking if I would be interested in adopting her Luka (who I've always loved) since she would be putting her up for sale. I didn't want to miss the opportunity and up until late last night, I was curious for more information of Fairyland's A-Line "Renewal" (which I'd hardly call a renewal). But factoring out everything, she was the best option for me and comes with a gorgeous Nomyen's face up~ Even though I do plan on having her repainted, this is a big plus because it allows me to see the twins together. Her face-up style and colors are also similar to Fable. However, she won't be here until November, but that works out well for me since I will be busy with work and some projects during those months.

(Not my images. Unknown photo from Pinterest. Eyes from MakoEyes and Enchanted Doll)

Now I have to decided on a pair of eyes and I'm pretty sure I'm going with Enchanted Doll #67. Picking eyes for Reimi's previous Unoa shell was a big struggle, so I hope this new pair suits her!

(Playing dress up games again...lol >_>")

Frankly, I'm relieved that the Fairyland event won't be effecting my plans. I thought the so called "renewed" a-line body would actually improve on posing and maybe look slightly different in the torso with a moe-line aesthetic. Then actually calling it "renewal" would have made more sense. I'm also glad they did not pull a Feeple60 with the head sculpts available. So it's nice people will still have choice and still be able to pick which bust size they'd prefer. I hope that is some relief to people ordering now.

But hell fucking yeah, I get to skip all the Fairyland event madness! :D Hopefully (and I have a good feeling) this re-shelling of Reimi is the very last Fairyland doll. Over the past few years I have felt myself growing away from their dolls. Don't get me wrong I adore the sculpts I own and they're very special to me. However I don't like Fairyland's business practices as much as I love their the dolls. Plus do I honestly need another one when I have 5 (soon 6) of them? No, no I do not...lol.

There are tons of other sculpts and companies I've long admire. So in the future I'd really like to stick to my guns and branch out to something else when I'm ready and able to do so. My plan is to enjoy my group of dolls as much as I can and continue focusing on developing my characters.

Special Gifts from K.

Earlier this week I received the most beautiful and generous package from my friend Komorebi (on Flickr). She messaged me asking if she could send something for Chimera since she recently has been changing up her doll collection. I'm generally bad at accepting gifts or any type of compliment, but she insisted it wasn't any trouble so I said yes.

Her package was waiting for me after I arrived home after a long crazy day and I was in complete awe...

(I think Chimera was surprised too...)

Some Updates!

Since last weekend I have been nonstop busy between life, work, and sorting out my dolls. I didn't make my life easier (as usual) by selling things while in the middle of running about like a headless chicken...But luckily all my sales so far have been successful, including my Unoa Lusis. She will be here until November since she's on a layaway. And she's all freshly clean, restrung, and patiently waiting in her box to travel to her new home. I still cannot believe how quickly she went, but I'm thrilled she's going to a really sweet person. :) Thank you again to everyone who gave me support through this process. New ideas are slowly brewing when I have a moment to daydream and that makes me very excited to move forward!

Unfortunately this week I didn't have extra time in the evenings like I originally planned to work on Rowan (my giant felted fox). Though I did get in her new eyes I ordered about 2 weeks ago, so that's pretty exciting! These look way better compared to the first ones I ordered from a different shop. They also arrived much faster which is a relief, because I'd really like to get her finish before October (aka Inktober).

(1st and 2nd row are new eyes (so pretty!) 3rd row are first pairs I ordered aka no depth!)
