Meet Rune!

She's finally here! Meet Rune, Fable's twin sister~ She arrived early on Friday, but I was very busy with work, so I had to wait until later at night to open her. I'm glad I did because it was nice to take a moment to be quiet and enjoy some dolls.

She's a Minifee Luka from Fairyland. I got her secondhand through my friend PurinDoll and she came with a gorgeous face-up by Nomyens. I would like to get her repainted in the future or dive into doing it myself. But for now it works and I'm happy she fits in naturally with my other dolls.

Mood Board for ? | Re-shelled Character

(Images from Pinterest and ED eyes)

Since my incoming doll will be home soon I thought I'd share one of her mood boards that I made a while ago. I've been more conservative on what I share about my characters and plans lately, but I like the feel of this one. I'm hoping she'll arrive next week (maybe before Thanksgiving if I'm lucky).

I haven't ordered her eyes yet and probably won't until after the holidays. But I did purchase some alpaca to make her a wig. Treating alpaca is so time consuming, omg haha! Other then it taking forever to comb and wash, it's a pretty easy process. It will be worth it though! I need to get some pink dye in the shade I want and hopefully I can squeeze in some spare time to work on it when she arrives.

I will reveal more character details soon!

Happy Halloween!

(watercolor pumpkin painted by me)

Happy Halloween!

If you celebrate Halloween, have a happy and safe one! Otherwise Happy Autumn! I've been extremely busy hence the lack of updates. I'm hoping to have a little more free to continue doll related projects *cough Rowan* and other things. In a way I've sort of taken a break from the hobby because there is only so much time in the day. I'm not sure if I'll ever get the right balance of things working on doll related stuff since I spend most of my days illustrating and designing things for clients. *sigh* Oh well!

Yokai's Short Stories I - The Tanuki

Disclaimer: Yokai's stories include strong language, violence, and mature content. This particular short story is mild in my honest opinion, but does have a section of strong language. So this is my warning to you in advanced that some future stories involving Yokai will contain mature content.

The Tanuki

The sun blazed on the back of Yokai’s head as she carelessly followed behind her father. It was summer and the air was thick. Yokai wasn't pleased to be led through the tall grass that she had to smack out of the way as they cleared a path. It was her first time visiting in her father’s world and she wasn’t impressed. However she didn't see him often since she lived in the human world with her mother. They continued to walk for what felt like an eternity to Yokai. Her father didn't give much attention to his tiny daughter’s grumbling. When they finally reached a small village, Yokai couldn’t believe her eyes. There were all kinds of demons and spirits she had only heard of in stories. There were so many strange smells and sights everywhere! Her father quickly turned to her and said sternly for Yokai to not wonder off too far and to stay out of trouble. She leaned against a bunch of old abandoned crates as she watched him swiftly walk inside of a strange looking shop.

A group of demon children spotted Yokai and had been watching her for some time. She had noticed  them too. They huddled together snickering and occasionally starring at her. Whenever Yokai's eyes met with the group of kids she would quickly turn away to pretend she didn't see them starring at her. She didn't want to attract any unwanted attention. A loud mouth raccoon dog who appeared to be their leader kept pointing at Yokai until eventually he and group of kids started walking towards her. "Oh great..." Yokai mumbled to herself. The raccoon dog was bigger then some of the other kids. Yokai thought to herself how ugly and fat he was.

Reimi 2.0 Updates

The past two weeks have been very eventful for me in real life and in the hobby. I've been very quiet about it recently, but last weekend I put a Minifee Luka on layaway!!! °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°

A friend had reached out asking if I would be interested in adopting her Luka (who I've always loved) since she would be putting her up for sale. I didn't want to miss the opportunity and up until late last night, I was curious for more information of Fairyland's A-Line "Renewal" (which I'd hardly call a renewal). But factoring out everything, she was the best option for me and comes with a gorgeous Nomyen's face up~ Even though I do plan on having her repainted, this is a big plus because it allows me to see the twins together. Her face-up style and colors are also similar to Fable. However, she won't be here until November, but that works out well for me since I will be busy with work and some projects during those months.

(Not my images. Unknown photo from Pinterest. Eyes from MakoEyes and Enchanted Doll)

Now I have to decided on a pair of eyes and I'm pretty sure I'm going with Enchanted Doll #67. Picking eyes for Reimi's previous Unoa shell was a big struggle, so I hope this new pair suits her!

(Playing dress up games again...lol >_>")

Frankly, I'm relieved that the Fairyland event won't be effecting my plans. I thought the so called "renewed" a-line body would actually improve on posing and maybe look slightly different in the torso with a moe-line aesthetic. Then actually calling it "renewal" would have made more sense. I'm also glad they did not pull a Feeple60 with the head sculpts available. So it's nice people will still have choice and still be able to pick which bust size they'd prefer. I hope that is some relief to people ordering now.

But hell fucking yeah, I get to skip all the Fairyland event madness! :D Hopefully (and I have a good feeling) this re-shelling of Reimi is the very last Fairyland doll. Over the past few years I have felt myself growing away from their dolls. Don't get me wrong I adore the sculpts I own and they're very special to me. However I don't like Fairyland's business practices as much as I love their the dolls. Plus do I honestly need another one when I have 5 (soon 6) of them? No, no I do not...lol.

There are tons of other sculpts and companies I've long admire. So in the future I'd really like to stick to my guns and branch out to something else when I'm ready and able to do so. My plan is to enjoy my group of dolls as much as I can and continue focusing on developing my characters.

Special Gifts from K.

Earlier this week I received the most beautiful and generous package from my friend Komorebi (on Flickr). She messaged me asking if she could send something for Chimera since she recently has been changing up her doll collection. I'm generally bad at accepting gifts or any type of compliment, but she insisted it wasn't any trouble so I said yes.

Her package was waiting for me after I arrived home after a long crazy day and I was in complete awe...

(I think Chimera was surprised too...)

Some Updates!

Since last weekend I have been nonstop busy between life, work, and sorting out my dolls. I didn't make my life easier (as usual) by selling things while in the middle of running about like a headless chicken...But luckily all my sales so far have been successful, including my Unoa Lusis. She will be here until November since she's on a layaway. And she's all freshly clean, restrung, and patiently waiting in her box to travel to her new home. I still cannot believe how quickly she went, but I'm thrilled she's going to a really sweet person. :) Thank you again to everyone who gave me support through this process. New ideas are slowly brewing when I have a moment to daydream and that makes me very excited to move forward!

Unfortunately this week I didn't have extra time in the evenings like I originally planned to work on Rowan (my giant felted fox). Though I did get in her new eyes I ordered about 2 weeks ago, so that's pretty exciting! These look way better compared to the first ones I ordered from a different shop. They also arrived much faster which is a relief, because I'd really like to get her finish before October (aka Inktober).

(1st and 2nd row are new eyes (so pretty!) 3rd row are first pairs I ordered aka no depth!)

Reimi 2.0 & Fable Inspiration Board

(Images from pulled from Pinterest. I do not own these.)
A few images I've pulled from Pinterest related to Reimi 2.0 and her relationship with Fable. Some of these represent Fable and in her "dream state" in image #4.

Playing with the idea of Reimi being the anchor to Fable's wild dreams. Perhaps with levitation and telepathic powers to see into Fable's dreams...A lot of rough ideas at the moment. I'm also considering making Reimi's personality a little more mature, though still having a few similar traits like being more carefree compared then her moody sister.

It's been a long time coming, but I've come back to the hobby with some clarity about my dolls. I realized that I've tried to make my Unoa Lusis work over a long period of time and it's caused stagnation for me in the hobby. I'm also not in the position to have her sit around and be pretty. Especially when I'm not even enjoying her to myself privately. It simply boils down to my character Reimi has outgrown her Unoa shell. So with that said and a lot of thought, I have decided to move my Unoa Lusis on and hopefully she'll find a good home. I'll be posting her sales sometime during the week on Den of Angels once I've gathered everything and gotten her together.

It's bittersweet with her being my first doll and first grail, but I enjoyed my time with her.  But I'm also very excited for the new direction and what story and character developments will unfold!

Bohemian Punk

Ventured out into the blazing heat to have a mini photo session with my old girl Fable. She's been with me for many years and still never fails to amaze me. I also wanted to try out some different style of editing then usual, a little more dramatic. Also I wanted to thank everyone that has been checking out my blog! I will be slowly adding more about my characters and some of my current projects.

Short Stories: The Gift

Like most days Folklore found herself needing to escape into the woods away from her dull projects. She was daydreaming as usually which lead her to wander quite far before realizing she should probably head back to campus. She called her fox Rowan to head back, but Rowan ignored her quickly darting off down a side steep path. Slightly annoyed Folklore followed behind her calling once more. She found Rowan acting frantic over a puddle of fresh blood. Rowan darted off once again. Alarmed by the sight Folklore hesitated for a moment debating if she should run for help but then quickly ran off behind Rowan down the steep path afraid of loosing her. The fox became an orange blur as Folklore practically stumbled down the hill trying to keep up. The path became more bloody the further they went…

Ahead she saw Rowan had stopped and Folklore slowed herself down by slamming half of her body against a tree. She gasped for air as her lungs and chest burned. Looking down she saw how muddy her shoes had become and once again saw droplets of crimson staining the ground. Folklore slowly looked up to find an usual sight. A magnificent and very large doe. Twice the size of a normal deer. She was a stunning creature. However she laid still severely wounded and whispering her dying song…
